During my Juneua, Alaska trip I was able to get in a nights stay at
Auke Lake Bed & Breakfast
11595 Mendenhall Loop Road • Juneau, Alaska • (800) 790-3253 • e-mail: info@AukeLakeBB.com • website: www.AukeLakeBB.com
Mendenhall Glacier is right down the street literally and you see it as you drive up to this lovely home away from home. If you have a long lense Nikon or similar..SNAP AWAY‼️
Auke B&B is owned by Dale and Honey Bee Anderson. They’ve assembled top-quality experiences designed for the traveler looking for an intimate, touch and feel adventure. A lifetime of Alaskan experience will be used to put together your adventure to be remembered. You’ll find a quiet and secluded setting on the shore of Auke Lake. Your accommodations reflect casual elegance… not a lot of pretence or Victorian here… just come and relax in good, old-fashioned Alaskan hospitality.
Auke Lake activities – our bed and breakfast provides access to lake watercraft (kayak, canoe, pedal-boat), there is also a beautiful 3 mile trail around the lake.
How lucky were we to be able to get a room since they usually book months out in advance. Prayer works!! Anyways you check in @3pm and check out is @11am. Continental breakfast is served @7am but for us we had a @5:20am flight to Seattle, so we missed it. Well not necessarily..we were told by Jessica since we leave so early, we can actually still enjoy breakfast. Because she preps some of the items the night before. How lovely & smart; because I do the same in my own house when I occasionally make breakfast.
Our room was in the Timberlake suite and by the way all of there rates are on the website and quite reasonable. When we were being shown around (oh forgot the resident dog is such a charmer and he’s so gentle) the compound we were given our key and our room OMG! I can’t say thank you enough, it’s just like a studio apartment with an amazing view, and all the comforts of home. I couldn’t help my self after we got settled in and jumped on the plush bed. I fell asleep. OH MY a quick nap!
Upon my awakening we prepared to go exploring some more in Juneau City and I was in a hurry to get back to our accommodations and walk the trails. What a view of the lake, it’s a water front B&B, which included water sport amenities, but the 3 mile trail showed off the glacier so beautifully. I decided to walk back and enjoy sitting by the lake. With all the quiet, smell of the crisp air, and happiness surrounding you, this B&B really makes you not want to leave. I played with their dog for a bit longer (sorry forgot his name..but then again I’m not good with names) as he walked me closer to the edge of the lake. Then the chocolate retriever decided he wanted to go back up to the house and he ran off. I was in pure bliss and started snapping away. I walked back up to the back portion of the home, passing massive trees w/strong trunks, offering privacy, past the gazebo, and up on the deck. No mater where you go in Alaska, period it’s a photographers dream, but just siting on the deck allowed you to see the entire view of the lake. Matter a fact anywhere in the back of the house area offers full lake view. Now think about sleeping to this scene..makes you not want to close you eyes huh😘
Everything is clean, fresh, and walking in the plush carpeting makes you not want to sit on the couch in the room. There’s s common area on the top floor along with a laundry room. In our room mini fridge, microwave, walk in closet, and it’s very spacious. I’m thankful for being able to stay there since this wok definitely be a place we book again, but in advance for a longer stay.I’ll have a better camera next time, instead of my iPhone. Can’t say enough good about this place as everyone is very welcoming, accommodating, respectful of everyone’s different schedules, and the location is far enough from the city but close enough that you can plan your day & still have time to catch the sunset. Go visit Auke Lake and tell me how you enjoyed this quiet but well known hidden beauty by the lake.
