  1. History: Ladew Topiary Gardens are nonprofit gardens which, were established in the 1930s by socialite and huntsman Harvey S. Ladew, who in 1929 had bought a 200+acre farm to build his estate. A garden master piece for the adventerous nature lover & for the artistic heart. Your are exposed to Mr. Ladew’s inner mind: his travels, his sport, and transported to each corner of the world.

Self Guided Adventure: As we walked through all 15 different garden themes, which are very distinctive by the way, you can’t help but take your shoes off and feel the grass between your toes. As you walk through the maze of a garden, you feel like a kid again, you want to run through the artesian arch ways, breathe in all the varieties of flowers, and just commune with nature. There’s plenty of sitting areas, the center spectacular is the giant fountain in the middle of the gardens. Everyone engaged in having picnics, walking through the water, stopping for pictures, and holding hands. People who don’t like plants began to appreciate the art, dedication, put into creating/maintaining the gardens.

If you have allergies make sure you drug up before you go 🙂 the nature walk which is exactly what the name says, shows you the rest of the land which have not been touched by man, and is kept in its original state. I love to walk, so you’ll be getting a lovely workout when you go, but do take advantage of visiting the mansion itself. There’s a cafe, tours, and more. My favorite was the Oriental & Victorian themed gardens. I couldn’t stop smiling, was sad to leave, I felt renewed, and to walk barefoot is heaven for me. I want to thank my intuition for putting this idea in my head, love my lthinking couch”, and this is a wonderful birthday gift for myself. Sometimes you just have to stop, smell the roses, and just do way with electronics. Having time to come back to you ~ ie. a piece of mind can be a real life saver. A piece of mind is the fountain of youth, Retire to what makes your heart sing, and for me it’s travel in nature. My first topiary garden experience and this won’t be my last.
